Website Ranking determines what page and position your site appears on in search engines.
If you are not on the first few pages you will not get the traffic you need from the search engines.
To get the website ranking you need requires information, information, information.
I follow the C.T.P.M. formula. Which is Content, Traffic, Pre-sell and Monetization from Ken Evoy.
The search engines look for relevant content based on the keywords for each page. If you over use the keywords on a page it is as bad or worse than not using the keywords often enough.
The shorter your page the less often you use the keywords.
So how do you determine the correct number times to use them?
Lets use the keyword phrase 1957 Chevy's.
1. This is placed exactly as you typed it as keywords into your URL. If it was on this site it would be http://www.the-retirement-road-map.com/1957chevys.html.
2. Then you repeat it again as before in the page title, you can add more words to the title if you chose.
3. Next use it exactly again in the page description. You can use it a 2nd time in the description but that is all.
4. Now onto the actual page. It needs to appear in the page Headline exactly the same way.
5. The first sentence needs it to appear with in the first 2 or 3 words if at all possible.
6. In a five paragraph page with 4 to 6 sentences each you would repeat it again once maybe twice but no more.
7. Then it needs to appear one more time exactly the same in a text link.
So you'd have repeated the phrase 6 - 8 times in all.
That makes the search engine happy but what about your visitor?
Your visitor doesn't care how many times the keyword is used on the page unless it is over used or the content is not relevant. If it's '57 Chevy information they are seeking deliver with great content. Don't go off topic and tell them about Fords built in 1957. If they wanted Fords they would have used 1957 Fords to search for information.
Your content information is what they want, so make it as informative as possible.
The search engines and happy targeted traffic is happy so what next?
Your website needs to be submitted to all the relevant search engines. An easy way to do this is with a submission service. Most submission services charge a fee. The following link is the service I use and it is free.
You need to have traffic from other sites coming into your site also, this gets noticed by the engines also.
To do this you need to find relevant sites that are ranked well and exchange links with them. This helps their rating also.
You also want to have your target market search for your URL, you do this by a few different methods.
First off find a group on the internet interested in 1957 Chevy's and join the group. Then add either an article about 1957 Chevy's to the site or post a blog and either mention the site in the blog or use it as a signature on the blog. Be sure to read each sites blog rules before posting.
Go to social networking sites and discuss your subject there. Include a link back to your site. Get others talking about it.
Create a buzz for your topic and you'll have interested visitors clicking on your site.
If your keywords are to broad you will not get the website ranking you want, that is why you find a niche and develop it.
Another example: on this page I need to add website ranking one more time at this point.
Then again in a text link.
