The Four Basic Types Of Internet Businesses
1. A Site Based on Your List of Personal Ideas
When Starting Internet Business you need to know what types of businesses are found on-line.
The first is what I refer to as selling yourself. It is already part of you. You enjoy it, make it, know a lot about it, do it, have a talent for it or very interested in it. This is a passion you have and you share it with others via a web site.
If you develop your site from your list you are starting with nothing and building it to your specs..
That can be either a strictly informational site, or an educational site. You could teach a craft or a technical skill.Self-Help, Motivation, Tool Repair, Cooking or the art of ______fill in the blank.
Another would be to sale your art work.
Your list is the key to Starting Internet Business that does not require you to spend a lot of cash to get going.
I'm sure you are wondering how this "informational" site is going to earn you an income. It is really very simple and easy to do.
Have you noticed the double underlined words on my pages? Advertisers place these ads and then when you as a site visitor clicks on an ad to see what it is, the website is paid for you looking at the ad. The same goes for the ads that appear at the top, side or bottom of pages.
When ever I visit another site I always click on 1 or 2 ads on the pages I read, this helps the website and I learn about the ads being used. I feel this is a good habit for anyone surfing the internet, if you visit a web page leave a "click notice" or two showing you were there.
2. Affiliate Programs
This is when you sign up to promote someone else's products. You can promote a number of different products from different sources.
Affiliate Programs operate differently, but they all pay you a percentage of the sales that you generate.
Some require that the sale be made directly through your site when the person clicks on their link; they do not automatically track that click if the person does not buy then.
Others track that click and if the person does not buy at the time but clicks from another web site and buys you still receive the credit because they first saw it on your site.
Affiliates also pay on different levels. Some will pay two deep, meaning that the first sale is paid then if that person refers another you earn a percentage from that sale also, but less than the original sale.
When Starting Internet Business this is a good way to monetize your site.
You can contract with a wholesaler who will "drop ship" for you. You never have to purchase the products yourself and worry about reselling them or shipping them to the customer.
You post your wholesalers products on your site and orders are placed through your site and you earn a commission on sells. This is the simplest way to sell others products
If your wholesaler does not "drop ship" then you have to order the products you offer and wait for the sale, then ship product out.
If the wholesaler will not take unsold stock you could get stuck with it. Plus you have to figure in your cost for boxing the products, delivering to your shipping company and time involved. Do not forget fuel & auto expenses.
4. Direct Sales
These companies are generally those that have a pay structure which is multi-level.
Thousands of companies operate this way, they all have pros and cons.
You are either contracted with the company as an IBO (Independent Business Owner), a sales representative or as a distributor.
The company has duplicate sites that each IBO is given or has to pay for depending on company.
These sites are not found through search engines you have to have the exact URL to find them.
Generally the site can not be personalized making it impossible to market with out having your own site to drive traffic to your direct sales site.
You need a customer base and a down-line that meets the multi-level sales to make money this way. It can be very profitable if you know how to market your products and how to find down-line prospects. I go into all that in Business Opportunities.
