PERSONAL SAFETY GUIDE, SAFE EVERYWHERE
TOP TWELVE SAFETY TIPS
Personal Safety is about protecting yourself from becoming a victim. Do you practice personal safety? Don’t walk or jog early in the morning or late at night when the streets are deserted. When out at night, have a friend go along with you. Don't carry more money on you than you need that day. Don’t pull all your money out of your wallet or pocket, try to divide your money into what you expect to spend in different places. You are much safer using ATM/Check card whenever you can. If you feel someone is following you, look directly at them so they know you are aware of them. Then change direction or cross the street. If they continue to follow you step into the nearest open business. If you have a cell phone call 911 and report it. Draw attention to yourself in some manner.Don't be embarrassed this all about Personal Safety. Never park in unlighted areas or remote areas. If you go to leave and your car is way out in parking lot by itself ask for security to escort you. No security then wait until someone else is leaving and walk out with them. Make sure you have your key out as you approach your door. You have to make this list a priority and practice personal safety until it is automatic. Always lock your car, even if it’s in your own driveway; never leave your motor running. Look in the back seat before you unlock your door and get in. Do not unlock your car with the remote until you are next to the car. Do everything you can to keep a stranger from getting into your car or to keep a stranger from forcing you into his or her car. Yell, scream, lay on your horn. Draw attention to the situation, run if you can. This one is Personal, Personal Safety. If someone has abused you, do not meet him or her alone. Do not let him or her in your home or car when you are alone. Always be sure there is someone else in the room with you, ask that person not to leave the room. If someone tries to rob you, give them what they want; don’t give up your life.
PERSONAL SAFETY PREPAREDNESS
Acting with assured confidence is a great way to deter someone from picking you as their victim. How do you achieve this when you feel threatened? Walk tall and with a purpose. Dogs smell fear and so do thugs, Do Not Show Fear. You are prepared, you practice personal safety and you have armed yourself with two very simple devices to fend someone off. The first is a key chain that has a piercing alarm when activated. If this doesn't scare them away, you also have a key chain size pepper spray. Aim straight in the face and spray for 2 - 4 seconds. By carrying these on your key ring with your car and house key you can easily operate them with out having to fumble around trying to find them. Only place 2 to 3 keys on this ring and put all your other keys on a separate key ring. You are in your car and someone approaches you. Doors are locked already. Car keys are in ignition, and car is running(power on), Do Not lower window more than an 1 1/2 inches. Clipped to your visor is a pepper spray remove it and lean away from door. They will bend down to speak in to car, if they make any sudden moves spray the eyes immediately. Then leave and call 911. Never ever open the door or lower window completely. Always keep the doors locked and do not lower passenger windows more than 2 - 3 inches when no one else is in car. If you drive with your window all the way down roll it up if someone approaches on street. If you find you are being surrounded by a group. Lay on the horn and keep moving. Do not slow down so they can get close. If they do not move out from in front of your car keep moving and speed up. If they still do not move, Do not stop just keep moving until they have no choice but to move or be hit. Then call 911. But keep moving until you have police on phone. If you hit someone at 15 to 20 miles an hour they are not going to be to seriously injured. This is a concern, I know, but they have threaten your life. If someone tries flagging you down, be very careful, it could be a set up. Slow down, do not stop, take out cell phone and call 911. Do not get out of your car unless you are sure it is an emergency and safe to do so. Call 911 first. Take keys and pepper spray, lock car and pay attention to everything around you.
