MLM OPPORTUNITIES, HOW THEY WORK
MLM Opportunities are not actually the type of business the program is, it is the payment structure. The actual type of business can be almost anything. To name a few Health and Beauty, Insurance, Legal Services, Home Decorating, Crystal and Jewelery. They are Direct Sales Companies. Meaning, the marketing of products directly to the customer, cutting out the “Middle Man“. This can be done in different ways, some companies use the Party Plan, others have distributors and use catalogs, others are online only. Some companies use all three. The product comes directly from the company to the customer. The customer orders through the person contracted with the company to market the products. The companies refer to the contracted person as either a distributor, a representative or an independent business owner (IBO). To simplify this I will use the term IBO for the direct sales person. There are literally thousands of direct sales opportunity companies doing business today. A few have been around for 50 years or better. Avon, Amway and Mary Kay come to mind. Fuller Brush Co. was also one of the first. These companies have a proven track record. I’m sure you remember “Avon Calling” every week when you were growing up. My Grandmother use to purchase from both Amway and Fuller Brush sales reps. There are those who immediately run the other way when they here MLM. This is due to the opportunities that were actually pyramid schemes, or rumored as cults and because of illegal practices of some of these companies. You have to really investigate any MLM Opportunity thoroughly before becoming involved. At times this can be hard to do. So many of the companies do not want the IBO’s to tell you the company name prior to going to a “Business Meeting”. The “Business Meeting” is generally held at a Hotel and the presenting Diamond or someone chosen by them does the “Business Presentation”. It is a high powered rah, rah, situation. It is very easy to get swept up in it. The IBO’s who have brought a prospect to the meeting are immediately in circled by their up-line and the prospect is subjected to the "Teams" family. Every one is "high" on the business and how great it is. Some of the top products will be discussed and a little training speech is given on how to get the customer to purchase. The IBO’s all have certain products they purchase and truly believe in. They tell you, you have to have a Reason (goal) to achieve success, that you have to believe in the "System". The new prospect is given “Training CD’s” to take home and listen to. One of the up-line makes an appointment to pick these CD’s up and that’s when you'll be asked to sign up. Do not sign a contract ever until you have complete understanding of the company and what is involved. THE PROVEN SYSTEM is something you will here over and over again. “The System” is just duplicating your up-line. Face to face, three foot rule, go out and talk to everybody you come in contact with. Ask the contact if they would like financial freedom. Get them to an appointment to see if they “Qualify” for the opportunity. That system worked at one time. 15-20-40 years ago you could market that way. It no longer brings in the customers nor does it bring in prospects. The companies continue this old system even though the majority of them have websites set up for the IBO’s to have customers order through. Some of these companies have very high quality products and the service the customer gets is first rate. When you are shown the products and how simple it is to order and have it delivered to customers doorstep, it is hard not to sign up immediately. All the Team members say “anyone can do this” and talk about the Millionaires in the company. You are shown homes that are out of this world, owned by one of your up-line.Way up-line! You are shown how you can make MILLIONS also. You have to meet the customer sales levels and you need to bring in 9 more IBO’s who in turn need to bring in another 6 and those six, 3 more and you will be making better than $10-20,000.00 a month!!! That is if you and your down-line make the sales level brackets. The Team presents it as if everyone is building a down-line like that in 12-36 months time. It just isn’t so. It can be done, you can make fantastic money this way but it takes a lot of work and long hours to do it. Does this all sound negative so far? I'm not at all against MLM Opportunities, you can make a lot of money this way, you just have to know Internet Marketing Strategies.
