Branding, get noticed is about putting your "Mark" on your business.
How? Not with a hot iron trademark pressed into your flesh.
Instead of flesh you stamp it around the internet. You cause a buzz, get people talking about what your site is all about.
Post on Blogs, announcing your up coming site launch.
Tease your audience into visiting you on your site. Be sure to deliver everything you promised in the blog. Failure to do so will cause your brand to be of low value.
Talk about it on social networks, get conversations going about your content.
Your e-mail list of friends is a great starting point let everyone know what you are doing. Ask them to pass it on to others who might be interested.
Promote your site every chance you get both on and off line. Remember to brand yourself.
Use your e-books, newsletters, and affiliates to get attention and drive traffic to your site.
I know e-commerce site owners who do not have business cards for their site. I think every business owner should carry their business cards and use them when ever possible. it is great Marketing.
Before you start "buzzing & stamping" know who you are.
Develop your look and feel meaning site header or logo and the feel (mood) of your site. Carry this through on to each page, if you use the same header logo through out your visitor will recognize it and feel secure knowing they are on the site they intended and have not clicked into something else.
Why is this important? Lets take a trip to your favorite grocery store, we walk in and everything is as it should be. We travel down an isle and half way towards the back of the store...there is a new color on the walls and the flooring is different, instead of groceries on the shelves you see soil with sprouts of greenery the back of the store is a nursery.
What the H-ll? Are you confused and upset? Of coarse!
It would be like looking for McDonalds and driving right by it because it is now in a purple castle type building. You no longer know for sure if you can even get your big mac at this weird place.
So pick your color scheme and stick with it. Try to keep your lay out consistent through out also. If topics are hard to find on your pages your visitor will leave and find another site that is easier to understand.
Same goes for picking a domain name. If your site is about drums don't pick a name that doesn't fit. Like instrumentsrus.com. You'll only get random visitors looking for all types of instruments (even non musical). Drumsrus.com and bingo drummers are visiting and finding what they need.
Branding is about making it personal or individuality. Catchy wording will always payoff as long as it is relevant. Drums of the world, would bring in all different types of percussion instruments.
If you use a logo keep it simple. What does "golden arches" or "red and white cans" bring to mind. What about a "flying horse". All very simple logos that are recognizable.
Use your header/logo on all your web business dealings. If you send out e-mails be sure your header appears just like on your site. Include the same signature lines on blogs and forums.By doing so people will know it is you and become familiar with it and begin trusting. You can't talk to all these people personally to build trust so you have to do it through name recognition.
Before you can heat up the branding iron you have to start building (your fire) your own web site.
You can't build it until you know the definition of common terms:
DOMAIN - Is your web page address, it is how you are located on the internet. You type it into the web browser to find the website. My domain is the-retirement-road-map.com
URL - Uniform Resource Locator which is the http://www. prior to your domain name. It finds the region you are located in. It points directly to you, when you type in http://www.the-retirement-road-map.com you are taken to my site.
WEB HOST - stores the files for your internet site and many other sites also.
SERVER - A computer that manages centralized data storage or network communications resources. A server provides and organizes access to these resources for other computers linked to it.
In order to build it you need to know about Website Ranking.
